We’ve all seen those You Tube clips of “The Voice” or “X Factor” or “American Idol,” where someone who doesn’t look like anything but a regular Joe or Jane – and sometimes not even that good – suddenly belts and wails and blows judges and audiences away completely.
Kris Jones might not have had millions watching him perform live when his daughter – who goes by “Daylafulla” on You Tube – decided to catch his heartfelt rendition of the classic country song “Tennessee Whiskey,” shot as he drove her around town in Fort Worth, Texas, where people know a thing or two about country music.
Originally released by the iconic George Jones in 1983, the song came back to world’s attention when country songwriter Chris Stapleton covered it in 2015, giving it a hipper, sexier vibe for a new generation. And it was this arrangement that Kris Jones belted out as his adorable daughter filmed it, adding her own knowing winks and smiles to the camera, as if to say, “Isn’t he fantastic?”
You Tubers apparently agreed: to date, the video of her dad’s “Tennessee Whiskey” rendition has more than 6,000,000 hits!
Some comments even suggested he has a future as country singer waiting for him. And with that kind of voice and response, who are we to argue?!
