Wanda Dench, a granny from Mensa, Arizona, in 2016, accidentally texted Jamal Hinton, a teenager from Chandler, Arizona. Hinton thought she invited her grandchild to Thanksgiving dinner.
Hinton quickly texted Dench about her mistake (“You, not my grandma,” he replied), Dench did not retract her invite. That is when Hinton joined Dench for dinner. Their unlikely friendship went viral on social media.
The meal went so well, that Thanksgiving 2017 Dench invited Hinton again. He accepted and even brought his girlfriend with him.
“For him to continue with the relationship, I am just really pleasantly surprised,” Dench said. “We are more of [an] extended family and, best of all, friends.”
Hinton Tweeted selfies of him with Dench on Thanksgiving 2016 and 2017.
