26-year-old Mary Pat Siess has been fighting an aggressive form of cancer since she was 6.
She thought she was at the Oakmont Bakery to bake a cake for a little girl with cancer. She had no idea her brother, who’s stationed at Fort Bragg with the 82nd Airborne, was also there, getting ready to surprise her. It was all made possible by Jamie’s Dream Team, a non-profit based in Pittsburgh.

“She has no idea I’m here, so it will be a hell of a surprise for her,” said Specialist Robert Siess. “Never heard her complain about it once. Probably the toughest person I ever met in my life, and […] about time we did something for her.”
But her brother’s visit wasn’t the only surprise: Jamie’s Dream Team also helped Robert plan a trip to Disney World for the whole family.
With everyone gathered around, her big brother walked up to the counter and asked for the cake she just baked. Mary Pat was in shock and instantly started to cry.
“I thought I was baking a cake for a little girl with cancer,” said Mary Pat as she wiped away tears. “I want to help others who have cancer. I know what it feels like to go through that, and I was more than happy to come bake a cake for a little girl. This is more than I expected. A lot more!”
