The family of Gabby Petito has shared a video that shows her camper van at what appears to be their campsite in Wyoming – just hours before the FBI confirmed they found human remains there. Sunday Afternoon, The FBI announced that they had found a body in Spread Creek Campground, matching Gabby’s description. They believe it may be linked to her and Brian Laundrie’s stop there during their stay at Grand Teton National Park.
After escaping from his parents’ home and fleeing to an alligator-infested Florida park, authorities have resumed looking for Brian Laundrie – the person of interest in the disappearance of Gabby Petito. Cops are granted tracking access to their cellphones so they can try and find him.
After refusing to cooperate with the police, Brian Laundrie disappeared from his family’s Florida home. Police are searching for Petito, who was reported missing on September 11 after Laundrie returned home from their trip alone. Petito last spoke to her family on August 25.
Petito’s parents shared a video on their ‘Find Gabby’ Facebook page from YouTuber Red White & Bethune on Sunday morning, that caught the Ford Transit Van they believe to be the vehicle used by the couple while traveling across America. The footage was taken at the Spread Creek Campground in Wyoming on August 27 at around 6.30 pm, where police were searching for the missing girl.
The family wrote: “We have this video, so does the FBI. We believe this is the van for multiple reasons.”
Nichole Schmidt, Petito’s mother said, “It’s a very important piece of information as it pretty much starts the timeline. This new video of the actual van being seen on the 27th appears legit. That was the last location the van might have been seen. It’s a huge piece of the puzzle. It’s essential and there might be more videos out there that people haven’t even realized they have yet. If people were recording videos or just taking pictures, they need to start looking through their stuff.”
East Idaho News reported that on August 25th or 26th, the couple chatted with the owner of a shop called ‘Rustic Row’ in Victor for about 20 minutes. The owner, who was not identified said, “They told me they were traveling from Florida. They had just been to Teton Park and they said they were interested in going to Yellowstone and I told them they could go to the west entrance. They seemed happy and when they left, she hollered back from the door that they were engaged and then I said congratulations.”
After seeing reports of Petito’s disappearance on the news. the shop owner said that she immediately contacted the FBI.
Gabby’s mother said that she is ‘not entertaining’ a TikTok video in which a young woman describes picking up a man on the 29th saying that it was Brian. “The timeline seems way off. Maybe she thought it was him, but I just know the timeline is off. The van left there the night of the 27th or early on the 28th. The van was in Florida on the first. It’s not possible for it to have been there on the 29th.”

When Tiktoker Miranda Baker and her boyfriend were in Colter Bay at Grand Teton National Park on August 29, they came across Laundrie who asked them for a ride at 5.30 pm. Baker explained “He approached us asking for a ride because he needed to go to Jackson and we were going to Jackson that night. So I said, ya know, ‘hop in’ and he hopped in the back of my Jeep.’
When Laundrie, 23, got in their car, he offered to pay $200 for a 10-mile drive. He was wearing a backpack, a long sleeve, pants, and hiking boots.
Brian’s parents told investigators on Friday the last time they spoke to their son was on September 14, they were told that he’s going to Myakkahatchee Creek Environment Park, which is linked to the Carlton Reserve.
North Port Police information chief Josh Taylor said that a team of 50 police officers from six different agencies will search for Laundrie. The swathe of officers is using bloodhounds, drones, and 4×4 vehicles in their hunt in an alligator-infested Carlton Reserve.
Taylor said that a skilled outdoorsman could hide out in the area for how many months. Police have been unable to find any evidence, although they did take some clothing from Laundrie’s parents’ home for scent dogs. “We have had drones in the air, we have got bloodhounds, K9s, four by four vehicles. It’s very wet, it’s muddy. There are a few unpaved dirt roads. It’s a place that people hike. There are mountain bike trails out here. The Myakkahatchee Creek runs down into the city.”
Taylor was asked if he believed there were concerns for Laundrie’s safety, He said: “Sure, I think that’s fair to say. There is an enormous amount of pressure I’m sure on him to provide answers on what’s going on here.” When he was asked if Laundrie owned any guns, he could not confirm.
Wyoming police will resume the search for Gabby Pepito at Spread Creek Campsite just east of Grand Teton National Park where Petito’s parents said they believe she was on August 25.
The 22-year old ‘van life’ girl, Petito has been missing since August 24. Her Fiance, Laundrie returned home to Florida on September 1 refused to cooperate with authorities trying to find the young woman who is now considered missing.
Protests were in full force outside of Laundrie’s family home as the day progressed. Protesters chanted “where is Gabby?” tirelessly throughout their demonstration, demanding that he reveals her whereabouts.
A man who looked a lot like Laundrie has photographed two blocks away from the home just an hour and a half before the Laundries’ family attorney reported the 23-year-old missing.
Zachary Randazzo and his grandmother walked down the street, they were shocked because what looked like an exact replica of him was walking down the street. he said, “We then watched him as he turned down the next street over and we drove past him again to get a second look. After driving around the street a third time, Randazzo took the photo and realized that it looked just like him. He then pulled up an online picture of him to compare them side by side before realizing how similar they were in appearance.
The parents of Gabby Petito have shared a video on their Facebook page that they believe shows the van the couple traveled around in. The clip was taken at 6:30 PM from Spread Creek Campground where police are currently searching for the missing girl. “We have this video, so does the FBI. We believe this is the van for multiple reasons.” the family wrote
As of Saturday morning, officials had searched an area on the east side of Grand Teton National Park for Petito. As a result, Spread Creek campground was closed around 7 am and will remain shut down through the coming days due to their search efforts. The Denver FBI is in charge of leading this investigation and they have set up a mini base camp several hundred feet away from the main highway.
Early Saturday, search and rescue teams were out in full force. They brought along kayaks or rafts along with off-road quads into the dispersed campground. In the afternoon at 4 PM, 25 search vehicles left the campground due to inclement weather.
Grand Teton Park Ranger said that the park’s elite search and rescue unit is searching for Gabby Petito in the backcountry of the park. ‘I believe there may also be a search going on in a remote area of Yellowstone National Park.””
Authorities believe that Petito may still be in or around the Grand Teton National Park. The backcountry is a hike-in only area, spanning more than 310,000 acres and 485 square miles the backcountry consists of several hundred square miles on the west side of the park.
Jim Schmidt, Petito’s stepfather said that they are confident she made it to the area but aren’t sure where she may have ended up camping and is hopeful that someone will find her soon. “Members of search unit at the park can be airlifted to various remote areas for a search,’ added the ranger. ‘They don’t tell us specifics they sort of doing what they do.”
Gabby and Brian V.’s account on Thedyrt continued to be updated until July 14, 2021. You’ll find a number of dispersed campsites in the Grand Teton/Jackson area which are often free for stays up to 14 days.
In this wilderness, Petito would be faced with a different set of predators. Grizzlies aren’t the only ones- there are red foxes, coyotes bobcats, and cougars too.
North Port police in Floria tweeted a photo of 30 volunteers willing to help with the search and rescue. Laundrie’s family says he entered the area earlier this week.
The T. Mabry Carlton Reserve is a 25,000-acre park with 80 miles of equestrian trails and hiking/biking paths. It is 15 miles from the Laundrie home in North Port. North Port Police communications chief Josh Taylor said, “That reserve covers a massive, swampland.”
Today, the search for Laundrie intensified. Police, FBI, and the green-clad local Sarasota Sheriff’s Department deputies were moving around in ATV vehicles.
The 160-acre Myakkahatchee Creek Environment Park, which connects to the massive Carlton Reserve is one particular area of interest. One of the officers was seen walking along a pathway with his machete in hand, moving deep into the thick undergrowth. The other officers were moving around the perimeter in the back of pick-up trucks.
Laundrie’s family did not report his disappearance for three days. The Laundrie family called the FBI Friday night to talk about their son’s disappearance, describing how they were frustrated that it had taken them this long to speak in detail amid the search for Petito.
After Laundrie’s attorney announced that he was missing since Tuesday, Petito’s mother reacted angrily saying “he’s not missing, he’s hiding. Gabby is missing.”
The North Port Police and the FBI confirmed that they are searching for Laundrie after the said disappearance. “We understand the community’s frustration, we are frustrated too. For six days, the North Port Police Department and the FBI have been pleading with the family to contact investigators regarding Brian’s Fiancé Gabby Petito and Friday is the first time they have spoken with investigators in detail.”
North Port Police have revealed that they are currently working on multiple missing person investigations. The police have issued a description of Laundrie as a white male,5’8 160lbs, brown eyes, short brown hair, trimmed facial hair, and was last seen wearing a hiking bag with a waist strap.
Police were seen at the family home of Laundries’ in North Port on Friday, Florida with evidence bags. The attorney said they were removing items from the house in order to assist with Laundrie’s search. he said “Be advised, the whereabouts of Brian Laundrie is currently unknown. The FBI is currently at the Laundrie residence removing property to assist in locating Brian. As of now, the FBI is looking for both Gabby and Brian.”
Police have said that Laundrie, who was last seen with Petito on the day she went missing is not considered a suspect in any crime.
Four police officers were seen entering Laundrie’s home on Friday afternoon after being let in by an unknown family member. The officers left the home after more than two and a half hours, with none of Laundrie’s family members.
They arrived at a group of protestors outside the home, who were heard yelling “Bring Gabby home!”. The man on the megaphone is repeating ‘Where’s Gabby? Brian!’ as he stands next to others who are crowded in front of Laundry’s home. “We’re out here, Laundrie family, we’re out here, we’ll be out here every day!” he yelled.
One of the officers got out of the house and went to his police car brought out what looked like an evidence bag before returning back to the house. North Port police have been called to the family’s home ‘at request’ but they’re not speaking with Brian. After an hour, two officers came out and opened up a silver convertible Ford Mustang which belonged to Laundrie family. The car has been there most of this week. Before returning to the house, the officers opened the trunk and checked inside the vehicle for a quick search.
In an effort to get the rowdy group under control, North Port police deputy chief Chris Morales addressed the protesters: “This is not helping. Please keep it down. I ask you to have courtesy for the neighbors. Please respect the peace. You guys can be here but respect the peace,’ he added, but was drowned down at one point by chants of ‘where’s the respect of Gabby?”
After refuses to cooperate with investigators, Police have finally named Laundrie a “person of interest” in the mysterious disappearance of Petito this week.
Utah authorities have confirmed there is no connection between the double murder of a newlywed couple found dead just outside Moab and Gabby’s case. Before returning back alone to Florida, Laundrie passed through Moab with Petito.
Grand County Sheriff Steven White said in a statement. “It has been determined that the Gabby Petito missing person case is not related to the double-homicide case involving Crystal Turner and Kylen Schulte.”
Petito has not been seen since they left a hotel with Laundrie in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 24 during their cross-country trip that started early July. Petito made her final call to her mom the next day saying that she and Laundrie had traveled to Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. After not hearing from her in 13 days, the family reported that she was missing on September 11. The couple’s van arrived at their home in North Port, Florida on September 1 with Laundrie but no Petito. Laundrie refused to cops and repeatedly refused Petito’s family’s requests for help.
A newly released bodycam footage shows officers responding to an incident involving a young couple in Moab on August 12 – 13 days before Petito was last heard from. The video shows crying Petito telling officers they ‘have been fighting all morning’ and she admitted that she had slapped him. Petito says that she had been suffering from OCD and anxiety, the couple claim that they were stressed because of the YouTube blog they were working on to document their cross-country trip.
Laundrie tells the officer that Petito was trying to get her keys from him and she hit Laundie with her phone. Officers ask Petito if her boyfriend hit her and she responds “I guess.” When Laundrie was asked if he hit Petito he admits that he ‘pushed her’ during the altercation.
Cops separate the couple for a night as Petito was determined to be “the primary aggressor.” The Moab Police Department was called to the Moonflower Community Co-op on August 12 around 4:30 pm for a possible domestic violence incident involving two people. On Wednesday, the Moab Police Department released a report documenting that they had been going through ‘issues’ over recent days.
Laundrie is a man who presents himself as caring and loving but there are those in the know about him that say otherwise. Petito’s best friend, Rose Davis said that he is actually jealous and controlling. One incident was when Laundrie hide Petitos’s ID to her from meeting up with her at a bar. “He’s got these jealousy issues and he struggles from what Gabby called these ‘episodes,’ where he would hear things and hear voices and wouldn’t sleep. Gabby had to stay at my house a bunch of times because she just needed a breather and didn’t want to go home to him.”
