It takes a special kind of bravery to be a firefighter. Not only are they willing to put their life on the line in high-pressure situations, they also have a certain risk-taking streak.
Marc Hadden and his crew had just received what they thought was a normal emergency call. Until they got there, it was anything but normal.
A pregnant woman had gone into labor without enough time to make it to the hospital. Hadden had to step in and help the woman deliver the baby himself. Fortunately, the baby was born safely and she was named Grace. Marc called his wife Beth shortly after to tell her how ecstatic he was. “Who gets to deliver a baby in their lifetime that’s not a doctor?” she said.
Marc and Beth had been married for some time and already had two sons, Will and Parker. The Haddens wanted to have a third but were told by doctors that they were unable to for medical reasons. Although an adoption seemed the most likely next step, the pair decided to wait rather than take action. According to Beth, they wanted to “[leave] it in God’s hands.”
Marc’s story shows, when you show up in the moment and open yourself to other people, incredible things can and do happen.
