An overzealous Disneyland Paris employee interrupted what would have been a fairytale marriage proposal inside the amusement park, and the company immediately apologized.
An employee at Disney’s “Happiest Place on Earth” snatched a diamond ring box from a man while he was still on one knee and popped the question in a viral video.
As the man kneels on an elevated platform, a large crowd can be heard cheering loudly for the couple, who are getting married. Disbelief and emotion overwhelm the woman in a blue dress, who covers her mouth in disbelief.
An employee in Mickey Mouse’s ears rushes to the stage and yanks the engagement ring from the man’s hands before scurrying down the stairs to urge the couple to come down. Before following the man, the perplexed couple gives him a second look.
Confused, he says, “She said, ‘yes,'” and the employee nods in agreement.
It’s great that you think so, but over here will be even better,” the buzzkill worker says as he motions for the lady to come down.
Redditor Wasgehtlan, who claimed to know the man in the video, posted the now-viral clip to his site. As per the user’s post, “POS ruined my best friend’s (sic) moment”. In advance, he sought permission.
Members of the Reddit community were not happy with Disneyland’s handling of the situation. According to one commenter, the $149 “Proposal Photograph” fee was not included in their admission pass.
“Trying to figure out if a dude was happier enforcing rules or ruining [the] moment. He was legitimately happier for ruining the moment,” another wrote.
Another said that “If some stranger ran up and snatched a diamond ring out of my hand, more than the moment would be ruined.”
The park has apologized to the couple, according to Disney.
“We regret how this was handled,” a Disney spokesperson told Newsweek. “We have apologized to the couple involved and offered to make it right.”
