During an attempted Bronx robbery, a 79-year-old man was viciously punched and kicked outside his own home. It was daytime in the Bronx on Tuesday when 35-year-old Edgar Wilson brutally beat Gerardo Cabeza to death. His left eye has been completely shut since being admitted to the hospital.
On camera, it appears that after a confrontation, the suspect punched a frail elderly man in the face. In order to complete the attack, he launches a cup of liquid at the victim’s head, which he then kicks in the face as he tries to get up.
Arrested in connection with this incident: NYPD says Wilson has been accused of attempted burglary and violence in relation to the attack. According to the alleged victim, the man attempted to rob him, but police said that no money was taken from the victim.
He kept beating me and beating me, and I said, “Please stop it,”‘ Cabeza told Bronx 12. ‘I don’t engage in debate with anyone.’ Old is relative; I’ve reached the age of 79. As a rule, I avoid getting into heated debates. “He just appeared out of nowhere and began beating me up,” I said.
The victim spent a day in the hospital before returning to his 50-year-old home. “I’ve seen him around before,” Cabez said of the assailant.
“I’m going to leave,” he told NBC New York in a statement. I’m going to leave now. Now, I’ve been here for 50 years! A half-century.
This is critical because it shows that the police are taking action, in my opinion, and I’m glad they were arrested. When Cabeza’s neighbors saw the man they see every day sitting on his doorstep and welcoming visitors getting beaten up, they were shocked.
In the words of local resident Mirka Caro Rivera: “He says goodbye, hello, God bless you when people walk in the street.” I’m heartbroken because he’s such a wonderful person.’
