How Beau Biden Foundation Spends Its Money

Only a fraction of $3.9 million raised by the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children in 2020 was spent on its purported mission to help children, The Post has learned.

It’s not clear how much money the Biden Foundation gave to the Delaware-based charity in honor of President Biden’s late son, but the Biden Foundation gave $1.8 million before it shut down in 2020. Joe and Jill Biden established the Biden Foundation to promote “progress and prosperity for American families.”

It also received $225,000 from organizations linked to a major political donor and bundler of President Biden’s campaign.

According to tax filings, the organization spent only $544,961 in 2020 on its stated goal of protecting children from abuse despite a $2 million-plus windfall.

To put it another way: Biden cronies earning six-figure salaries while working for the charity cost $932,865 in total that year.

As the non-director, profit’s Patricia Dailey Lewis, a former deputy attorney general for Delaware under the late AG Beau Biden, was paid $150,660 in 2020, including a $3,500 incentive bonus.

During the campaigns of Beau Biden and Joe Biden, Joshua Alcorn, a longtime Democratic operative and consultant, served as COO and received $131,437. Since then, he has resigned.

According to CharityWatch, a nonprofit watchdog, top-rated nonprofits devote at least 75% of their budgets to programs and services. There was only 58 percent of the funds spent by this charity going toward its stated goal.

“A 58 percent program ratio does not reflect a high level of financial efficiency,” said Laurie Styron, the executive director of CharityWatch.

His troubled son Hunter Biden served on the board of the Beau Biden charity in 2020, which is when The Post first reported on Hunter’s infamous laptop. Ashley Biden, daughter of Biden and Hallie Biden, widow of Beau Biden, also served on the board.

Former FBI director Louis Freeh and his wife, Hallie, are the only remaining family members on the board.

Organizers said they would no longer accept donations from lobbyists or foreign donors after Joe Biden’s inauguration in 2021, and they promised to publish the names of their major contributors on their website as a way to increase transparency.

However, The Post was unable to obtain a copy of the organization’s 2020 tax filing in early March. Afterward, it was revealed that the document could be found on the Guidestar website.

An earlier version of this page contained a list of donors, but by Friday that list had been removed from the document.

The Masimo Foundation and the Masimo Corporation, both manufacturers of medical devices, were among the donors. Kiani heads both groups, both of which received $750,000 in donations from Joe Kiani, who was named to a presidential advisory committee on science and technology last year. According to a report, his company has millions of dollars in government contracts.

It was claimed by a Masimo Foundation representative that the company’s federal contracts had actually decreased in value since Biden took office, despite the company has contributed to the Beau Biden Foundation “because of the work it does for kids.”

Requests for comment from the Beau Biden Foundation were not immediately returned.

In June 2015, less than a month after Beau Biden died of cancer, the foundation was incorporated in Wilmington, Delaware.

An adult workshop offered by the Beau Biden Foundation costs $500, according to their website. On the other hand, it provides educational programs for children on topics such as cyberbullying and internet safety.

The Biden Foundation is one of three non-profit organizations that are linked to the Biden family.

The Bidens established the Biden Foundation in 2016. As a result, in 2017, they established The Biden Cancer Initiative. When Biden announced he was running for president in 2019, both groups ceased operations.

The dissolution of each organization was reported to the appropriate state authorities, according to their 2020 tax filings. There was no immediate response from the Delaware Attorney General’s office, where the groups had their legal bases.
