Audi takes on one of the hot topics of debate in American politics – gender equality, in one of the most talked about ads from this year’s Super Bowl. Some people think that they should leave politics out of it, others think this sends a great message.
The ad begins with a dad contemplating struggling with what to say to his daughter about her value. She is growing up in a country where the men in her family earn more and are worth more than the women.
While her father cheers for her, she passes all of her male competitors in the soap box derby race. At the end, he asks himself if he should tell her that “despite her education, her drive, her skills, her intelligence, she will automatically be valued as less than every man she ever meets.”
It’s a hard truth about America today, one that many people are coming to terms with and struggling to overcome.
