We’re all intrigued by wild animals. Whether alligators, gorillas, or tigers, we want to get close and learn more about these magnificent and amazing creatures.
But sometimes it’s not the cat who curiosity kills, but sadly, the human.
No one knows exactly how a Chinese man, visiting the Youngor Wildlife Park in Ningbo, which sits 125 miles to the south of Shanghai, got close enough to the enclosure for the horrifying incident to occur. But as one fellow visitor recorded on their phone cam, the man was pulled far into the tiger’s habitat and dragged under trees, where the wild animal proceeded to puncture the man’s neck with his enormous fangs.
Behind the primary cat, two more tigers lurked nearby, possibly waiting for their piece of the carnage. As the poor man tried desperately to sit up, the tiger went for his torso with his massive incisors as well.
Traumatized zoo visitors tried to alert park guards, but it’s obviously no easy task to free a man from a hungry tiger’s grip, and it reportedly was an hour before the zoo’s caretakers could get the man to safety. But alas, it was already too late.
It required some creative techniques to drive the tigers off, including using a water cannon and blowing off loud firecrackers. In the ensuing mayhem, one of the tigers was killed by a forestry bureau member.
Terrified onlookers reported massive amounts of blood pouring from the man’s face, who sadly later died at the hospital.
The zoo was temporarily closed after the incident, until authorities and forestry personnel could make sure it was all clear.
