In the city of Nara, Japan the spotted deer population is completely overwhelming, as you are about to see…
The deer travel to the city’s center seeking food. However, according to local legend, the God Takemikazuchi arrived in Nara on a white deer to guard the newly built capital of Heijo-Kyo.
Because of this legend, the deer are considered holy animals, protectors of the emperor and the country and nobody dares to touch them.
