An employee at a massage parlor at Logan International Airport in Boston raped a traveler getting a last-minute rubdown before her flight on Sunday, state police say.
Darnell E. Williams, 29, was arraigned Thursday in East Boston District Court following his arrest for the alleged rape at the Be Relax Massage Studio inside terminal B at the airport, according to the Massachusetts State Police.
A judge imposed $5,000 bail and Williams was ordered to remain under home confinement with a GPS monitor and have no contact with the alleged victim.
The victim, a 25-year-old woman from out of state, popped into the location for a massage while waiting for her flight to depart. She told police Williams took her to a room in the back corner of the studio and raped her about 35 minutes into the hour-long massage as she lay face-down on the table.
The woman immediately asked Williams to stop, but he continued to touch her inappropriately before leaving the room. The woman left the location in a “distraught state and became physically ill in the airport,” according to Procopio’s statement.
“She continued to be physically ill throughout her flight,” the statement continued.
The victim later told a relative what happened and contacted Massachusetts State Police on Monday. Troopers then discovered that Williams was the employee working at the studio at the time of the alleged rape who matched the victim’s description.
Investigators interviewed Williams on Wednesday and charged him with rape.
“We have brought the seriousness of this charge to his employer,” the agency told the newspaper in a statement.
Calls seeking comment from the Massachusetts Port Authority were not immediately returned on Thursday.
“We have a strong company policy in place which requires all of our employees to be properly screened, licensed and trained,” said Nicholas Briest, CEO of Spa Atlantic, in a statement. “We were shocked to learn of these allegations against our employee, and are cooperating fully with all authorities. During their investigation this employee will have no access to any of our facilities or other secured areas of Logan International Airport.”
